Security and privacy

Tenant documents, protected at every step.

A tenant file holds a passport, a visa and a salary. Homelinker is built so that the fewest people see the fewest documents for the shortest time, and every access is visible.

How it works

Plain answers.

Who can see a file?
The tenant, and only the agency of the listing the tenant applied to, through the members of that agency. Homelinker staff access data only for support, on request, and every access is recorded.
Why are documents watermarked?
Until a tenant is retained, documents are viewable in the app only, with the agency name and the date printed across them. A screenshot shows where it came from. After retention, the agency can export the landlord pack.
When does the agency see the documents?
With your consent for that agency. Before the viewing the agency sees your profile and only the documents it asked for on that listing, such as the Emirates ID. The rest of the file comes after the viewing.
How is data protected?
Tenant data and documents are stored on servers in the UAE, in private storage that is not publicly accessible. Encryption in transit, a personal password for every account, documents opened only through the application and access limited to the agency concerned.
How long is data kept?
Each agency sets a retention period after a listing closes, 12 months by default. When it ends, the files linked to that listing are deleted. A tenant's own documents stay as long as the tenant keeps the account.
How do I delete my data?
A tenant withdraws an application in one tap, which removes the agency's access, and can delete the account and documents from the profile page. Every deletion is recorded in the access log.
What are my rights?
Access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent and a copy of your data, on request and free of charge. Write to the address in the privacy policy and we answer within 30 days.
Which law protects the data?
The UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021). Tenant data and documents stay on servers in the UAE, and the privacy policy sets out what is collected, why and for how long.

What we never collect

Never asked and never stored.

There is no field for any of these, no filter and no way for an agency to add one. The file is about the lease: identity, income, documents, move-in date and cheques. Nationality appears in the file because tenancy registration asks for it; it is shown as a fact and never used to rank.

Accessibility

Status is never shown by colour alone: every state has an icon and a label. Text contrast meets WCAG AA, every control can be reached with the keyboard and shows a visible focus, every field has a label, and tenant pages work on a 360-pixel phone without horizontal scrolling.
